           Questions by Bernard

        You would like me to give you a name would you not?  Well, my name was Louisa Cabot.  I lived mostly in New England, (near Boston?) can't you tell by my accent that I came from Boston? ( They say the Cabot’s never spoke to the Lodges, I heard?) Oh that was a lot of poppycock, because you see they had to blame the troubles on someone around there you know. Oh yes we spoke to them.  Maybe we weren't as close as we might have been. But we spoke to them and you know there was a bit at that time of, well let's say, snobbery.

   Oh yes there was quite a bit of snobbery.  The brownstones were very important, you know, to some people.  Well I had plenty.  I did not go with out.  I was not of the poor gentry but I was not a snob. (What do you mean by the brownstones?) Oh well most of the houses or they call them brownstone fronts, they were hitched together.  Well they are still there you know- but they are fastened together- they are separate houses but they are fastened together and quite elegant, very elegant inside but of course no windows except for the end ones.  No windows on the sides, all of the windows are in the back or front but they were quite elegant.  At the time of my existence there, they were very- well to other people possibly to those who did not have much, you see, they were considered you know elite.
                                                             
         My cousin Jamie he was definitely a snob but then of course it is what you are in your mind, as you know.  You can have all the goods in the world and it can't make you a good person.  For instance, how were the members of my family considered as they rode by in a hansom.  People would look at them with envy.  Actually you do not know how many times- oh well you would call it a joke now.  How many times I got ready and of course we had an inside man and an outside man, an upstairs maid and a downstairs maid and many more, the cook, and a butler, However, you don't know how many times I longed to just walk out the door and roam around by myself, which I was not allowed to do.  It really was quite a difficulty not to be able to go about and do as you wish you know.

   Without someone trailing you or being with you.  Of course at times it was very welcome to have someone to help you with the packages and bundles when you shopped you know.  But then I would have enjoyed walking up the hill carrying my packages I think because I looked at the people who were laughing and joking arm in arm and having such a wonderful time and there I was even on dates I had to have someone with me you know.  And even though you know poor Bernard, he was the one who drove our hansom at the time and you know he was supposed to be deaf and dumb to whatever was going on in the back seat, but we both knew as we sat there, that's the one I finally married you know, but we both knew that he knew exactly what we said and were doing.  Now was that fun!
                   
        And you know you would not believe the gossip that went on in our kitchen or buttery. You know, oh yes, the tongues wagged they thought we didn't know, but we did.  Oh you have it much better.  So do not envy the Cabots and the Lodges.  They had their problems too, but I was sent here because I majored in a subject that at that time did not have all the answers, of course I have done more research on this side and watched what is going on in the world and from this side of existence we can see so much further you know than you can. (What did you major in?) I am sorry I did not tell you, I majored in History, but I was, you might say, a very inquisitive person and I was not satisfied with going into just what was in the books or what I knew or what I was taught and believe it or not somehow I got into contact with my world here  while I was on the earth and I got a great deal of information that we did not have in books.

         Now as I look ahead I see so many things which are happening not only in your world here but also in many worlds around and about.  There are a vast amount of changes in the making.  The earth itself is changing, very, oh slowly to be sure, but it is changing the oceans are creeping up and the mountains underneath are trembling.  There are many changes about to take place. But, mostly man himself has come to the point where he is, let's say, in danger of taking himself into a void. A void because if he destroys the earth and does not keep the balance of nature then what will happen is that man himself will have to once again be extinct. There are many animals and birds once with you, as you know, which are not there anymore.
    
         Now, what makes you think as a man or a woman that you are picked out to always be if you do not do things right? And this is what we are trying from this side to impress upon those who are let’s say knowledgeable enough to listen to us.  It is not a case of how much money and what you can have with that money as it was in my day.  It is now a case of knowing how to run your life to exist, not to have, but to exist.  We see it written not by those in spirit world but you on earth have written it. You have written your own conclusion if you do not change the words, I wonder why so many people upon your earth today do not listen.
   
         You know in my time there were many that wrote words of wisdom, who wrote the makings of a right government, but none listened in this generation here.  Do you understand what I'm speaking of and about? You know, of course, all of your Presidents have had idiosyncrasies and problems because no one is a perfect human being.  However, we can say this about those who were before, who started your country, they were interested in the country as a whole and not whether they would be elected and that is what is the matter today.  Your politicians and your presidents especially those in high office, everyone has been interested lately not in what they can do really for their country but what can they do to get elected.

            Now think of the time, which is taken away from doing something for the country and is being used for doing something for themselves and you are paying for it.  It isn’t necessary for anyone to spend money or travel in order for the people to see what they have done and can do for the country.  It is like you have heard told to you, in order to be a spiritualist and to teach it, you have first to live it and the example will be the proof of the pudding.  Now, why can’t those in high office do this, why can’t they govern the country by putting all of their efforts there, be and example and let this be an advertisement for the people to reelect them.  Shaking hands and patting babies on the head is not proof of the pudding.  It is nothing but an elated ego.  Therefore my message tonight is for all of you to try to get this across to the ordinary person, and if you do not see the writing on the wall we will spell it out for you.  When the government has so many people working for it and the balance after government workers, those that are being given the dole's in the form of welfare, unemployment insurance and so forth you have 60% of the voting population who’s bread is buttered by keeping it going.

          Now how do you think that the 40% of ordinary honest people working can swing the vote?  Think about it.  That is why they want to keep all of these doles going and there is no need of having in the government both city, state and federal as many people running it as there is. There are so many in the different departments that no one knows what their job is at least this was not the case in my time.  The men there worked and did their job to the best of their ability. Until the ordinary working man can not say that he is supporting another family beside himself. Which he is you know. And until that time comes when he can say "I am working for my country and myself not for another family". And until that time comes you will not have a proper government.

   It is not a sin to be poor but it is a sin not to survive to support yourself.  Of course if you are born with a silver spoon as I was you are fortunate in some ways if you know enough to do something with your life for others, but you must have ambition, initiative which the ones now do not have.  When you hear it said and we hear it from this side so many times we hear those who are getting these things make the statement we never had it so good.
             
         Now think about it.  But what I am trying to instill is the dangerous creep towards and over balance of votes from those receiving? (Whom do you see as candidates for the office of president?) I do not see anything at the present time that is good.  In other words they are all striving for power and glory upon their head.  Did you listen to your president?  I do not know what you got from it, but from us listening upon this side we have heard a lot of words and promises and we have heard a lot of contradictory statements and if you add it all up it can't possibly be done. (All of the others are making promises too I guess?) They always did. (How about this man Ralph Nader?) (Would he be a good leader?) No- no he is somewhat good in parts of the work but as a leader no he is too passive. (Who is there in the country?) You can not find the man in politics.  Everything is run in selfish and a self-serving manner at the present time. (There is not much help for us then?) Not unless the people themselves on the working end, the ones who have. Let me say the initiative to fight and to bring about a change by not excepting these things will there be a good government.  Oh you will have ups and downs, your good and your bad, but it will not stabilize and one thing you can not do is give away more than you can lets' say do without and expect to keep the balance in your favor.  You are being weakened by continual shipping out of both money help and everything and it is not doing what it should.  It is not doing the things for the poor or for those who might do for themselves if allowed to.  Those countries will never let those people become self- sufficient because if they do, they will loose power and they know it.  So it goes into their coffers all the time saying that it is for their poor and there are many. 
                   
               We see from this side there are many. People on that side of the world across the water that are being put before a rifle gang, women, and children, did you know that? (What do you mean being murdered?) Absolutely. (In what country?) There are some in Arabian countries and some Angola and some all over in that section of your world and where the communists come in they want to annihilate so they will not have to take care of them.  They are put up before a wall and a firing squad and their homes burned.  You see the communist do not allow news out only what they want printed. You do not hear of it.  Just be thankful that you are not one of those born on that side of the water. (Asked about Gov. Brown of California the entity didn't know about him) I can not see a light anywhere at the present time, that is a good light.  By that I mean one who could get there, who could have the influence to get there.  You have many in your country, which would make lets say good leaders but they are poor or they do not have anything.  Let's face it a man without money can not get there at all today.  Whatever you do keep Kennedy out.
